What can you learn from big bass that follow swimbaits in? I am relatively new to fishing swimbaits, however I've caught my share of fish on them already. I notice I get twice as many followers than takers. But what irratates me the most is that I think these followers could have been put in the boat but several different things prevented that.

First of all, what is the best overall technique when you see a bass following closely, but not commiting? Do you speed the lure up? Do you kill it? Do you stop reeling and twitch it? I, personally have had two things happen. First, i'll speed it up and that usually works, but they just nail the bait on the tail which doesnt help. Other times, I've killed it and then twitched it as it was fluttering. That worked alright about 1 out of every 5 times.

Secondly, by having followers nip the tail or just follow the bait all the way in, mean that I should be using a smaller bait? Or are these impossible fish. Also, has anybody used a follow up bait such as a worm or something successfully?

Thanks for your time....:-)

Some people throw senkos after a follower. Also make sure you got scent on the bait, it can help alot. :)
