Some people have asked how to trap rig the stocker trout and I have been meaning to do the pics for a while but haven't sat down to do it. So here is the rig straight from the Thigpin bro's who make the bait. All you need is a short piece of heavy wire, two sleeves, a nice sharp 2/0 hook like gammie or owner and a pair of crimping pliers. Just crimp it down nice and hard and you are good to go.

Nice Rob... always wondered how to do that. Any specific kind of heavy wire? Also where can you get it?
Just can't catch a world record on it.

60 pound coated SevenStrand wire, AM9 sleeves and a 2/0 Owner and a crimping tool.

Just wondering if anyone has tried to add another treble further back on the bait like you would with an osprey?

Would using braid work just as good as the wire. If not what are the advantages of the wire over braid...

I know a lot of guys that use braid and swear by it. Personally Rod & Todd (that make the bait) have been doing it this way since the inception of the bait. I have never used the braid because of the confidence I have in the wire. I would rather have two crimps instead of two knots any day.
