So there is a swimbait seminar down in San Diego next week, guest speakers Mike Long and John Kerr, and in the paper it said 3:16 was giving away a hard bait valued at $316, and has been developed by Mr. Long, anyways c'mon now, its getting ridiculas, 300 green backs for a swim bait, it better be made out of IRAQie gold, I have enough hard time buying Rago's bait, but at least its a proven winner. Has anyone heard about this new 3:16 hard bait? Long and Kerr will be interesting to listen to, and finally meet Rago, SR, and 3:16, they all make great baits for certain conditions and it will be interesting to see what the big boys have to say.

Mike is talking about swimbaits and John is talking about how he won the US open at mead on drop shot. I dont know if 3:16 is ever going to be selling those 316 dollar baits I just think they made a few and thats it and they are giving one away. But I seriously doubt that its worth 316 dollars my guess is they estimated it at 316 bucks because of the name 3:16 you know? Ill be tehre if anyone else is.

I will be going and I will be bringing my hard trout. Its value is $500. I made one and then I accidentaly destroyed the molds. I dont plan on selling it anyways untill I can make more so for now I can say its worth $500. If you guys knew how much work and time go into those big hardbaits then the price wouldnt be so shocking. If I ever get around to selling any of my hard baits I would probably have to get at least a $100 just to make it worth the time to make them.
There are reasons that there are only a few guys making lures like these, because they are a pain to make compared to the soft baits.
I believe the Rago trout is worth the price. The optima does not impress me. Mine will be under priced

Hey guys:

Been testing the 3:16 hardbait for three weeks. I have used two prototypes; both have run different due to different weighting. I like them both. One works well in calm water using an occasional twitch. The other works best in rougher water with a stop and go retrieve. Think slooooow. The bait is a lipless surface bait and has a lot of detail and a lot of mass.

I just fish em, don’t have anything to do with the price however Mickey puts a lot of work into these bait. The R&D is time consuming and costly.

Is he planning on selling them or just made a couple for the fun of it?

Thanks

After it is determined which version is the best producer they will be put in production. We are still working on some minor details that should be completed shortly. Also the prototypes are painted with inexpensive paint. The finished product will be painted with automotive paint.

Why does the bait on the bottom have a different tail than the bait on top? I thought Mike Long was doing the field testing. I don't like the door hinges at the joints, and the spots don't look like a trout. I guess until its a proven fish catcher (not a photo with the bait stuck in its mouth) I will stick to other hard baits, the head looks interesting but the mouth looks like a tarpon. I would also like to hear what Mr. Long has to say about it at the seminar. If Rago's is a 9 I would give this one (just on looks)a 6, but after I fish it, the number could easily change. I still give props to 3:16 for being on the cutting edge.

Wow, the negativity...

Just so you know, Henry doesn't hang baits in fishes mouth to take pictures. As far as the way the bait looks, you are entitled to your opinions but the bait looks phenominal in person. There has been more than a couple produced with various paint jobs and color schemes.

And just to let you know, Mickey and Henry have caught dozens of fish on the hardbait. Henry called me 30 minutes ago to tell me that he had 5 fish on the hardbait this morning. But then again, he's probably just hanging the bait in their mouths for the pictures right?
