3978, SAW THE NEW 3:16 HARD BAIT IN ACTION
Posted by trophyhunter01, Mon Feb-09-04 06:45 AM
went out fishing yesterday at a lake in o.c. and met mickey from 3:16. very cool guy and some of the best baits i have ever seen. he had just finished up all the mods to the new hard bait and was testing it. the bait swims better than anything i have ever seen in the water besides a real trout. it has a the perfect jointing so the bait looks no gaps between parts truely amazing way to go mickey. also it will fish its self on the top i watch him cast it a few times. throw it out and it would sit on the top and turn side to side on slack line another amazing bait from 3:16 for sure. as for the price everyone has been talking about, WELL I WILL TELL YOU THIS IF HE HAD ONE TO SELL ME YESTERDAY I WOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT IN A SECOND. also rob mickey wanted me to let you know the new bait is way better than the one you guys fished sunday. also we got some killer footage on film of the bait swiming and working on the top. the vid will be comeing soon. 3:16 "mickey" has come up with some of the best baits on the market today for sure. way to go mickey }(

Lots of controversy over this bait. So let's let the bait talk for itself. And keep in mind, this is still PROTOTYPE. Let me re-iterate that. PROTOTYPE. Wait ... I think I just said prototype. Ok cool.

The bait shown is shown first with the bill and then without the bill. Yes the bill is removable.

3991, Not starring Bruce Willis?

Nice package, but I'm sure it has anything on the Slammer. At least not at ten times the asking price. Good video Rob, looking forward to see others.

Too bad I would be bankrupt and would have to fast for a month to afford the bait. I can see that he wants what the bait is worth. But by putting that price on it, he just exluded quite a few hardcore fishermen.

Really nice looking bait! I'd pay $50 for it and I believe most everyone would dig deep for atleast one. But I've heard that this beauty might run a couple hundred dollars which is comical. watch what will happen: The bait will be released and & very few will buy it because of the cost. Somebody else will knock it off and sell it for way less. It's a shame but that's just the way it is. Remember people, it's 3 pieces of wood held together by two joints. We're not talking rocket science! Hell of a nice job on the bait though!

well guys that is where you are all wrong. the baits is not wood for one. second if the castaic hard bait sells for $250 on e-bay in a matter of days then the 3:16 should sell no problem. i will spend the money for sure i saw the bait first hand and talked to mickey about the bait. i must say it is by far the best design and quilty lure out today.

I haven't fished a large, hardbait yet(I do have the smaller, 7" Slammer on b/o) but that bait is incredible! I have never seen a trout swim but I have to believe that that is the closest anyone has come to duplicating one.

I'm gonna have to back up DT on this one. There is no way that I would pay a couple hundred dollars for a bait. No matter how good it looks!

Most of the people buying the Castaic hard baits are collectors. Those baits never get fished.

$85 for the Live Trout is pushing it, but it's do-able. Once you get over the $100 mark, most people are going to go somewhere else. I say most because you will always have those people willing to pay any price, just to say they have one :P

The way I understand it is that the price for the bait has not been set. The $316 that was put out there was because the bait is still a proptype and when it is in production it will cost less than that. Come on Micky I know your are reading this stuff, let us know what the deal is.

OK guys, here is the deal.the First 10 baits that are gonna be up for sale are collectors. they will have a paint job so trick that you wouldnt beleive it, also the baits are # 1 through 10 and sighned, they have a cool( gladiator style) oak box custom made. Then thats it.Every person that's seen the bait in the water freaked! I really wanted to build a bait that I could really go off on! this bait is insane !Its way more than I ever expected. But most of all its original, and its made here in the U.S.A. not in other counties that pay labor wages a fraction of ours, not to mention that divert U.S. jobs. Think about that one! Hey Im no stranger to high prices, any one know the going price on a bag of dipers for a two and a half year old baby boy, or how about the price on a bottle of antibiotics (85.00) when he gets a cold. Be that as it may,I am gonna do a production run of 25 baits, this will give me my gross cost. THen I will be able to figure a retail price. One thing for sure is that I want you to get your money's worth as well as a high quality U.S. bait. fish hard & go BIG.

Thanks for that info Mickey, and thanks for taking the time to explain a little more about the pricing and the first 10 baits and all that. I hope that some time in the next year I'll be posting some pics of a giant bass or two with this bait hanging out it's jaw :) This bait will definitely be one of the baits that's always in my boat.

Thanks Micky hopefully that will put some of the rumors to rest. All your baits look damn good. I can only afford a few big baits (have to spend money on diapers instead) and yours are defintly some that save for.

Damn nice video Swim and what a killer trout imitation swimmer. WOW. No kidding that thing looks insanely real. I could throw that thing all day and swear that big one is coming up to thrash it big time. Hell, it would be fun just to cast it over and over again and watch it swim bait. Very nice work. Too steep of a price tag for this 909er, but I'm sure it will exceed expectations.

Mickey's attention to detail is unparralelled in the fishing industry. Keep up the good work man!
