Has anyone used an Okuma Nitrix X-400 for tossing swimbaits. If so how would this reel compare with a Cardiff 300?

Okuma specs: 5.1:1, 230/14, 180/18, 150/20, bearings 4+1

I have a Nitryx and a Cardiff. I would buy another Nitryx before a Cardiff any day. The Okuma out casts and outperforms the Cardiff hands down.

But, if you want something even nicer that isn't going to empty your wallet, go with Okuma Induron. I know there are a few guys here using them that speak highly of them. The only reason I'm not throwing my swimbaits with an Induron is because I can't find one in the lefty model right now.

Thanks Jake for that info. I just checked out the Induron at okumafishing.com and I got giddy. A free spooling reel for that cheap! :7 I can't wait. Have you tried an international 975 for swimbaits? It worked great in the salt for some lunker calicos and whites.}(

I have to agree with Woodsac. I love my Indurons.
I dont think the little internatioals would make good swimbait reels because they are to slow. If you had to catch up to a big bass or try to keep it from jumping you need the speed.

i almost bought an induron the other day. but had trouble finding one, i ended up calling a company that distributes tackle directly to the retailers and a guy there said theyre not even distributing them to stores any more. and that they wouldnt because of the numerous returns. he said it was one of the highest returns theyve ever had for a reel. he wasnt trying to sell me anything either because i couldnt buy from them direct. but he did say the nitryx had a much better or less return percentage. if that means anything to you.

I have 2 Indurons and I love them. I have caught a ton of fish on then including 20lb yellow tails and a bunch of big bass without any problems. The only thing is they are super free spools. It takes a little getting used to but once you get it dialed in, You can cast them extremly far.

I purchased an Induron reel and returned it the next day. I was throwing my four eyes and the reel just seem to make alot of noise after each cast. After about an hour of fishing I put it away. I have an old Corsair that cast better than the Induron.
