I have been using a Abu black max 6600 reel to throw my 5-9" baits. I know the drag washers on the abu's are usually choppy right out of the box. You can really feel this choppiness with the larger fish. Does anyone know of other washers I could use in the reel to make it smoother?

Hi!

Go to http://www.hatterasoutfitters.com
Click on "Misc." and then on "Reel Candy" and scroll down to find the different types of replacement smooth drag washers ...

Hope this helps,
Jacques

probably overkill for freshwater fish, but ht-100s would be nice drag upgrade for the abu...otherwise the newer xtreme smoothies work well and may be easier to find.

Just an update of the reel. I just got okuma id400 and tried it out at castaic. The wind was up and the reel was more than up to the challenge. It casts like a champ. I still have to get used to the free spool especially since I am not used to such a smooth reel. I did land a 3lb lm and a 5 lb striper. These are simple guesstimates since I forgot to pack my scale and camera. Too excited i guess. Heck of a reel especially for the price. I'm probably gonna order another soon . Thanks for all your help guys!!
