7075, Swimbaits on lakes that have Trout
Posted by Bass4Life, Mon Nov-14-05 09:00 PM
Ok guys here is my question. I'm new to this swimbait fishing and have enjoyed it so far. Been fishing Pedro for about a month and my first couple trips caught nothing. Then on my third trip caught a 10 pounder and a 6 pounder. Last few after that caught a 6 on one, and two sevens the next. My question, will swimbaits work on McClure for the spotted bass. And New Melones for the spots and the Northern Strain of bass. Went to mcClure and tried the old conventional way of fishing dropshotting and small baits and caught some little fish. I think I would of enjoyed just fishing big baits in hopes of catching just one big fish compared to the troubles of all those little fish. Any help kindly accepted.

Thanks,

Stan

Give it a try, in theory they'll work. They should work anywhere that a bass is hungry. :7

Yeah, the spots will eat them and so will northerns. Melones has the whole northern/southern hybrid thing going now, lake record is like 17 something. Plenty of fish big enough to eat them.

I've caught plenty of bass on trout baits with no trout ever in that lake. Spots eat them and so do the smallies!
