19627, Live-well - alive or dead fish?

My question to you is:

Why are some fish brought to the scales more lively than others?

I got to thinking on oxygen, water temp, air temp in the live-well, fish dope.

Of course there is the obvious deep hook or bleeding fish wound.

What do you guys do to help your fish stay frisky and alive till weight-inns?

I thought this was way cool ~

At one of the big bass tournaments a pro we all know
Brought in a fish with a jig deep in its throat.
Instead of trying to operate and performing surgery on the fish.
He cut the line a few inches out from its mouth, waited till after the fish was weight-in..
Afer all was said and done he got back his jig :)
