18505, 'Pablo on Monday - anyone interested?
Posted by jsmith, Sun Feb-15-04 06:10 PM
I'm thinking of taking my Four Winns out to San Pablo tomorrow (Monday). I'll probably leave my home in San Jose at around 8am, hopefully on the water by 10?

If any of you would be interested, give me a call @ 408-224-9113 before 10 tonight.

Offer still stands, if someone wants to join me @ Pablo tomorrow (Thurs). Got a nice back seat for ya! Sorry for the late notice.

It appears there's a break in the weather tomorrow, with minimal if any rain (whether that's good or bad for the fishing remains to be seen -- guess we'll know soon enough).

Call me (up until 10-10:30) @ 408-224-9113 if you're interested.

I gotta work tomorrow and thru the weekend. But I'd love to take you up on that soon. Can I take a rain check?

Git 'em!

Sure, Chris, I'll let you know when I head back up there again.

As it turns out, I didn't get a nibble, but I guess that's not so surprising when you're throwing the 'big wood' all day (not only did I have to break in my new *4-Eye* plug (thanks, Joey!), I also wanted to force myself to throw only the trout plugs, as much as I could stand it, and I was able to hold to that about 90% of my time out there).

Damn, I figured my chances would be pretty decent, being the middle of the week & all, and it *was* pretty quiet out there, boatwise. However, the water's pretty murky & cold, so you can't say conditions are prime, by any means. However, with the park just having reopened, and with these stories of other guys catching some toads already this month, I was hoping...

One funny thing while I was out there: I had to switch to a diving bait at one point in the afternoon, cuz these big ol' hawks (Opsreys, maybe?) were divebombing on my surface baits, and they just wouldn't go away. First there was one, then two or three. They kept swooping in with their wings & talons set in attack mode; I had to start cranking super fast just to get the baits to dive a few inches to try & deter them. I sure didn't want to hook one! :o That could've gotten ugly!

BTW, only one other boater I talked to there said they caught anything, and that was just a single 2.5'er. Didn't happen to ask what they caught it on though, sorry.

Yea thats the thing with chucking the big baits
You can toss these baits for days sometimes with out out a bite
But given a good hard chance...(Right place, right time, right bait)
Hard work sometimes pays off in BIG ways :)

Don't give up!

Please remember to practice C.P.R.

J.C. You'er so right about throwing a four eyes all day. You must put in the the time if you want to catch quality fish.

100% effort will pay off ...RIGHT JC....THIS IS HOW WE DO IT !!!!
