24201, Spring Lake SCBBBC tournament info Posted by Samurai TI, Thu Nov-04-04 08:33 AM
For those planning on fishing our final regular season event of the year, Spring Lake, is this coming Saturday November 6th!
We need everyone there no later than 5:45am and are planning on blasting off at 6:00am. Weigh in is scheduled for 3:30pm.
As a reminder, 13" minimum, 5 fish, and don't forget your lifejacket! Spring Lake requires you to have one on if you're in a kickboat. Oh, another big item...NO OARS!
This last event will determine the TOC qualifiers along with AOY which is still up for grabs! Be there for some hogz!
Todd
PS - It would be terrific for those attending to post here, for one and also since this is our "Charity Event - Redwood Empire Food Bank", if everyone could bring some canned goods to kick off our food/$$$ drive it would be appreciated! Thanks guys!!!

i will also be there. Question about the lifejackets. Is it required in a kickboat at spring lake?
I have had many times where i am talking to the rangers and they have never said anything. Ive also been around when they go up to kayakers and tell them to put jackets on, then look at me and dont care.
just a thought because i dont own one,

unless they have changed the rules there recently you do not need a life vest on your float tube or kick boat , but it is still a good idea to have one........marc x

I had a ranger there make me get off the water until I put my lifevest on (I think it was stowed in a hatch on my kayak)...

You do not need a life vest for a kick boat or a tube. All other watercraft must you must wear a life vest. I would bring one just in case though. This really irritates people in kayaks and canoes but I just tell them its because we have flippers on. They seem to go with it. I was once told by a park ranger the real reason we don't have to wear one is because if we lost consciousness in a tube you wouldn’t sink to the bottom. You would just kind of float around. A kick boat is a little different but they have let us be so far.

Regardless of rules or lake, we would prefer people wear or have one on their boat. I know I sometimes forget myself but it is no excuse. Besides, helps me get used to wearing them for the boat tournaments! :D
Hey Marc, haven't seen you much on the board lately. You going to join us on Saturday?
See you all on the water!

That's why I quit using my round tube....... I couldn't get the duck's head out of the way when landing a fish.
