This has me pretty ticked even 2 days after my return from Clear Lake. My wife, daughter,2 year old baby and myself decided to stay at the Mallard House in Lakeport for a change in venue. The lady that runs this place was a total freak and out of control. We arrived just before 9pm and were unloading our stuff into the room as baby michael was trying to help and playing next to the boat. We get everything in the room and I go to park the boat. When I return my wife tells me that the lady came out and was yelling at her to keep the baby inside the room cause he was to loud. Keep in mind we have only been here about 15 minutes and its about 9:15pm friday night. We kept Michael inside thinking maybe she had a bad day and let it go. Then sunday when I get off the water I hear even more BS from her. Michael had tripped and fell on one of the steps and did what any 2 year old would do and cry like he was hurt bad. He was ok just a small cut on his knee. My daughter was taking him back to the room when the lady comes running out totally screaming at my daughter and son. Yelling at him "stop, stop crying" My daughter just tells her "dang he's just a baby" and walks holding michael back to the room. Keep in mind this is happening around 2:00 in the afternoon. The lady follows my daughter and son to the room and just walks right in. She straight up goes off on my wife about him crying so loud and how bad he is. The lady was beat red and her eyes were popping out of her head. She was screaming at the top of her lungs. For those of you that dont know my wife she is tiny and very mellow. She wanted to rip this ladies head off but didnt go there. An hour later when I returned from the water my wife was still shaking. Michael even told me what the lady said to him and she got mad at mom and he hid in the bathroom. I looked for her when I returned but she was nowhere to be found.

I know some of you guys like this place, but I ask you all to find another place. This lady doesnt deserve a penny from the bass fisherman that support there hotel. If your driving through the area give her a nice bird for me.

Thanks for letting me vent, sometimes somethings just need to be put in public.

That completely sucks and I can guarantee that place will never see a penny from me!!

Wow,bizarre!When you told me about the incident from friday night I also figured she had a bad day or someone complained and she felt obligated to say something.But after hearing that I wont be staying there again.It used to be an older couple that ran that place I guess they must have sold it off or hired an a$$hole to run it.Thx again for taking me out saturday morning(next time I`m just going to hide some gas money in your truck or somewhere else so you take it,lol) I wish I could of stayed all day but as you know I promised my son I would be home in time for his ballgame.It was an interesting morning to say the least,did you get on any more schools of fish?I`ve asked a couple of people about what you were thinking about maybe the lake possibly turning over because of the clarity everywhere up north and gotten no answers except for Deren who also thinks it could be possible because of the cooler summer.

The second day things changed a little bit. The water color was better then the day before. The south end had very nice water color. Sunday's fish still hit the trap but I didnt find any schools of fish, they seemed to be much more scattered out. I did find some areas where the bait was super thick that I would hit them with the mtrap, but the fish just didnt seem to be in a feeding mood. I wish I would have spent some time south and fished shallow.

yo lake.... if i were you, i forward your post to the lakeport chamber of commerce. i'm sure they would investigate it. they advertise heavily for the mallard house. maybe they might dump them for referels..... also post it on ncbf, that might be pretty affective x( see ya in a couple of weeks......b.t.w can you hook me up with one of the shasta region clan.... i need some shasta info. thanks homie !........ Thanks for the heads up. I saw your post with reference to staying there. I looked up their web site, thought, cool, a place to stay so added it to my bookmarks. Well - DELETE! Sorry to hear about everything.

Wow Johnny, that sucks dude. I haven't stayed there in a very long time, but during the many years of staying at the Mallard, it changed hands many times. I always stayed in room # 2 behind the office and I never had a problem. I was planning on staying there with my wife after the Judice Priest show coming up next month, but I just might have to make some changes.
