My day went something like this...
I started out trying to catch better sized fish. Flipping jigs mostly. But the lake was up quite a bit and most of the typical areas where the better fish hold were now very deep and hard to fish. So after about 3 hours with no bites I decided to just move up on to the bank and see if I could get some smaller fish going.

I started flipping and pitching senkos along the flooded brush by the shore and picked up a 13.5 incher, 2.5lber, a short fish and then another 13.5 incher.

With 3 fish in the well I went back out and tried for a bigger bite again with jigs and swimbaits, and again got nothing. So I went right back to the same shallow banks. Pretty quick I picked up another undersize fish, then a 2.5lber and then finally got a better bite from a fish that went 5.2lbs.

That was it really for me, just 5 keeper bites. I've had a lot of B-n-T tournaments like this in the past where I would just barely get the bites to win but typically I'd have poor execution and lose one fish and it would cost me the tournament. This time all the bites stuck!

I was flipping 7" senkos on 20lb Triple Fish Camo and whacky rigging 5" senkos on 8lb Triple Fish X-Rated line. Not my normal way of fishing but it felt like a tough day so I went to finesse. I've been really impressed with the Triple Fish X-Rated line in the few trips I've used it. It fishes great on spinning gear, very limp, a nice dusky green color that is very neutral in the water, and very strong. I straightened a #2 owner mosquito hook with it in the tourney on a snag on the 8lb test which impressed me.

Thanks to Coyote Bait & Tackle for the great raffle and to the B-n-T staff for doing a great job with the tourney.
