well,I'm back and had a great time at eagle lake!It is a truly awsome place. No crowds, wake boarders or lake lice!! :o The fishing started out kinda slow on the 1st day.We did get our limits but it took a little while. The fish were cruising at about 25-28 feet in 50 ft of water. It was all bobber watching, very relaxing! I think there was only one day that we didn't limit and the rest of the time it was pretty much on.I didn't do any trolling(the boat realy runs like poop up there).I did manage to get it on pad but it took a bit.All our fish were between 2-3 lbs with the biggest of the week for our gang was 3 lbs 8 oz,caught by Christine's 9 year old nephew.1st time fishing and 1st fish.Priceless!!Needless to say he is now hooked(no pun intended). The eagle lake trout are by far the best tasting trout I've had and all our fish had nice pinkish meat from eating the shrimp that are in the lake.Man,they look just like salmon when you clean them and taste just as good. Sorry I doen't have pictures to post but it was pretty smokey up there due to the almanor fire. I can't wait to go back next year!!! Swampy

Sounds like you had a great time, Swamp. I've tried to plan a trip up there forever. Is it necessary to have a boat or is there shore fishing (without too much hiking)? Or, how would the kickboat work out up there? Are you fishing MR this weekend? It would be good to see you there.

steve, the water i sway low.The marina (south end of the lake) is out of the water but they have a 2nd ramp.Fishing from shore is doable but a bit of a hike down to the water and pretty limited. A kickboat would work very well as you can drive to a day use area and back almost down to the water and fish right there.I saw a guy in a kayak do it. I think the town of spalding (on the north shore)doesn't hav eany launch because the water is too low.The south end is also the deeper water an dway better for camping. If you want to camp there get a site at the aspen camp grounds. They ar every big an dit's real nice. I won't be making the tourney this weekend but I hope to go out with my bro one day this weekend. Hope this helps ya,swampy

Did June Lake Loop and every other lake on Hwy 395 at least every summer for 30 years. Great place to fish. Take a day trip and go to Convict Lake.

Thanks for the advice Steve-O. I'm not sure we'll have time but I'll look into it!
It was hard to beat Silver Lake there last year when my son and I landed 24 trout in 2.5 hours...then got 8 in 1.5 hours the following day!
