47647, Mildred report

first i want to congratulate all who placed and finished in the money. I also want to thank everyone for being patient during the weigh-in and for dealing with the tough launch location.

i didnt get in the water until until 609 i was dragging from only a few hrs of sleep. i kicked up towards mildred and fished an area pouring out of the ski cove, there were sparce tule patches and grass mats everywhere i was thinking this is a good place for fish to set up in the eddies to ambush bait, nothing there. i went a little up the way and fished a 100 yard tule island stretch with deep moving water right off the edge off the ledge. My first bite was on a frog pitched into a pocket in a mat half way into the flat, this fish clobbered the frog from 3 fft away in a manner that resembled an orca attacking a baby seal. After a half hearted hook set, mainly out of shock of what just happened she jumped, head waved and my line went limp. 1 hour later i caught the big fish on a frog at an opening in mildred i saw the water flush and my frog disappeard, i set the hook and saw a gold flash. fish on! i fought her for a few seconds and quikly put her in the well. i tried to find other similar areas to no avail. i went back to probe the areas i got bit with some flip baits but that didnt produce either. i decided to fill out my limit with a drop shot i got 3 fish rather quikly and then the tide switched and the bite stopped. with 30 min left i punched the last fish.

see you guys at CL
