This tourney the same game plan as last year was in the back of my mind but knew that was a real long shot. I started off the morning with a whopper plopper on the tullie islands for a while then up the rip rap levee. Had one blow up. Decide to start throwing a red craw square bill and second cast hooked up. 2.5 lber. Hooked up another that was only 12 in her but was so fat it prob weighed 2lbs. A few cast later caught one on a chatterbait. 1.5lber. I caught those in about the first 20min or so and that was it. I worked my way up river a ways trying everything I had. Senko, blade, beaver , frog, jerkbait. Nothing. Not even a dink. Frustration started setting in cause the tide was dropping and I don’t usually do well at low tide. By this time it was about 11:30. I haven’t even had a bite since the 3 first thing and time was running out. Really thought about calling it( since the tide was already low)but decided to just kick and cast. Make as many casts as I could. Picked up the same squarebill and went to town. Casted parallel, behind me, in front of me and perpendicular to shore. I noticed that a lot of casts were picking up weeds so I decided to take the 2.5 off and put on a smaller 1.5 which dove slightly less. I worked. I felt the bait hitting the tops of the weeds but coming back clean. Back to my castathon. Ha. Still kicking back to launch a few casts I picked up the 4.41lber. 5 more casts and I got another about 2.5 then another about 1.5. My limit was filled. Caught fish for only about an hour and a half out of the whole day. Last 3 fish had me screaming like usual but I lost my voice. Haha. Had a blast. Congrats to Dan and Scott R
