7320, Sonoma Farm Pond

Hit a Sonoma County farm pond on Saturday AM with Phil "Rags" Rageneau & "Ryan's Song" Senzig. We combined to catch 18 bass, about 14 of which were in the 2 - 3 lb range. Lots of fish on blades, with a few others on jerkbaits, crankbaits & jigs. It was fun to watch Phil & Ryan slay with the spinnerbaits. Also, got the Water Skeeter out on her maiden voyage. I can now see why you BNT'ers like kickboats so much. Way more comfortable - better seat, easier to cast, much warmer. The only drawback is the weight of the darn thing. I don't know how you guys lug them around at places like Clear Lake, where you have to portage them, even over a short distance. Anyhow, it was a lot of fun connecting with those nice, cooperative, prespawn farm-pond fish.

5 months just to get it out of the box??? Glad you were finally able to 'see the light'! (Woulda been 5 more YEARS if you hadn'ta WON the darn thing!). :D

Sounds like you broke her in good, though! Hope it's a good year for ya!

Thanks, Jeff. Actually, I got it out of the box right away, but one pontoon had one type of valve & the other had another, so that took a while to get straightened out. And, when I tried picking the thing up, I knew I was in trouble. So, I got her rigged up with rod rack & tackle bag & Fishin' Buddy (by the way, thanks for the great tip re: using a piece of 2 X 4 for mounting the clamp - worked great!). There was just no way I was going to lug that thing down to Fountaingrove. I'm no spring chicken, Jeffrey, like a lot of the younsters we have to compete with in these clubs.

At least I'll get to use it for the next couple of months @ Sonoma & Spring. But unless I can hire a Sherpa, I'll be back in the tube @ the Open.
