851, Who's wishing & and who's going fishing...

Is there anyone going fishing this weekend?

Well it’s looks like I might try to hit the stripers again weekend. Although last weekend was tuff here in the Delta’s waters. Figuer I’ll go back out and try it again.

My roommate and friend went out yesterday and got three to go. The biggest fish (15Lbs.) fell for a spoon next to a pipe.

Always open to suggestions. :-)

I'm headed to the Russian river to chase some of the few fresh steelies and salmon that came into the river They've bulldozed the entrance to let the fish in and the rain of course is helping. C'mon rain! Pour baby pour!!
It should be better in a couple weeks. By Christmas, we'll have mucho metalheads in the river!

Anyone care to give 'em a try tomorrow? Bring your kickboat and we'll drift the river.

By the way, the Smith River is up 3 feet and they're slaying big salmon RIGHT NOW. One guide said he had 11 hook-ups with 6 caught to 30 pounds.
Now that's fishin'.

Where about are these places located.
How far from Stockton?

Sure would be nice to find another to share costs. GA$/Lodging

Joe,
The Russian River is about 20 minutes from my apartment where you're welcome to stay if you like. I have enough room. I live in Rohnert Park about 15 minutes south of Santa Rosa.
Call me at work if you like 415-289-5040 ext 239. I leave here (work) around 4 / 4:30 and should be home by 5:30 / 6

Let's go!

I just realized you're probably talking about the Smith River where they're slying the salmon. It's on the California & Oregon border. I'm headed up there for a week, leaving either Christmas day in the afternoon or REALLY EARLY the next day.
It's a little long of a drive for a weekend trip though. I'd guess it's at least 300 miles maybe 350.

Let's wait till the rains will help or improve our odds.
I’ll be glade to join you in the Russian River.

As far as the Smith River goes...
The people here at work are giving us a week or so off.
I’m going to have to look into it further to see if I can nail down the dates.
Also see if the funds$ permit.

Going to be going to Spring Lake to try for the 24lber Paul D. released a couple years back. Figure it'd be about 30 by now. Going to be trying those new MS Slammer's I just got! Watch out Mrs. Big Bass! Chris and Bill will be out there too. You're welcome to join!

Hey Todd,
Bring your camera and send me some pictures =)

I think I'm going to go to either Lafayette Res. or to the main pond at Shadow Cliffs. I have kind of been thinking about taking my little bote to the delta to go striper fishing but I am not quite brave enough yet.

That statement regarding that your not quite brave enough is wrong.

Rob the guy in a float tube that kicks our ass in Middle River. I’ve been in fast moving current but I would have to rank Middle River at times up there with the best of them.
Not to mention If and when you’re fishing for bass and hook into a striper in your tube. You’re in for a ride.
My Dad and I would go out in our twelve-foot aluminum boat and troll for Stripers all the time. After we caught our limit Dad would put the motor down to it’s slowest speed and I would cast the shoreline for bass.

Don’t be scared.

What’s funny thoe is to see four guys in a ten-foot boat.
Now that’s something to build courage on.

Hey Joey
I hear you. I actually feel safer in my tube than in my boat for some reason. I know I can make it through any yacht wake in my tube but my boat is about 10 inches off the water with a flat bottom and sometimes that gets sketchy in waves of any kind. But yeah, I should really go over there and just do it. I need to start building up some delta knowledge besides Middle River. Maybe I'll do it this weekend, I dunno. Where's a good place to launch around the port of stockton?

Right down the way from my house there is Luis Park. It’s free to launch and un-loading and loading your boat would be a breeze.
Also right on the port there is a launching facility they just reopened to the public.

Here in the port it’s usually not bad for wake management. There is a number of boats fishing the port ether trolling or drifting. This causes the non-fisherman in their boats to usually slow down. Can’t speak for the occasional Yahoo. But for the most it’s smooth sailing.

(I like a lot of boats here in the port. It allows me to know if a school of stripers is running. Or if they’re biting!)

If and when you decide in going, give me a call.

Well, I'm ready as always, however this weekend I'm working Saturday. I'll give you a call tonight to see about Sunday. Anybody want to travel to the foothills and fish Lake Amador? Unfortunately, have to pay about $9.00.

Steve I’ll fish Amador but… I feel my chances of hooking into a BIG Dawg would increase at night. Perhaps we can plan a trip on a Fri/Sat Day ~ fish into the night.
I would be good for that?

When and where are you going on the delta?

My friend Brent and I are thinking of kickboating the delta for stripers on Sunday.
