#14397, "July 3, 2007 - Stardust 1/2 day"

Really fun trip today on the Stardust! We headed down south with Jason driving and Luke and Sal on deck. First stop was a small pick on bass with 8 or 10 caught I think. I caught one calico and one sand bass on 5" #13 Big Hammers. We had 37 or 38 people on the boat, mostly rent rod folks.

Next stop a lady on the stern hooks in to a short seabass immediately and from there it went stupid for about an hour and half on the seabass :) I saw many fish under the boat eating the chum and a couple times straight eating people's baits 30 feet off the side of the boat lol. It was really fun fishing, all on flylined baits. When the dust settled, at least 50 undersize seabass had been caught with many of them in the 26-27" range and 4 legals.

I got the first legal on the boat and had the hook pull on another one that was probably legal. Didn't count how many fish I caught but somewhere around 9 or 10. Good times :)

We went out for rockfish after that because even though the fishing was good, it wasn't filling people's sacks with fish really. Rockfish was pretty slow although one nice keeper ling and a nice fat sheepshead came onboard. The jackpot weigh in was pretty funny because all 4 of the legal seabass were the same size. A nice gentleman named Robert won the jackpot.

Here's Luke weighing in the JP.
