#3210, "Rago Live Trout in water and my review"

Someone in another post wanted to see what the Rago "Live Trout" looked like in the water.

Well RIGHT CLICK and SAVE AS... and you'll see a 9 second clip that I took today when I was testing mine out.

www.orangeblowfish.com/ragoinwater.wmv

Now to my opinions on the bait:
Positives:
The hook setup is perfect! There is NO WAY the two hooks will connect and foul up with each other, at least on the bait I got. The action is absolutely awesome when reeled SLOW... just a nice side to side motion. Dives down to about 5-8 feet... hard to tell when casting from shore though.
Negatives:
Once or twice the back hook stuck into the back rubber part and caused the bait to run sideways. The other problems I had with mine today were a few little paint chips and the very back of the tail splitting in 2 parts... Nothing another coat of clearcoat and super glue won't fix.

Ratings out of 10:
Size: 10 candy bar trout size( a little under 10 inches)
Action: 9.5
Paintjob: 6-7 (Good looking paintjob, needs to be clearcoated after you get it for it to last though)
Profile: 9 (has the top to bottom profile of a trout w/fins)
Durability: 8 (would be higher but the tail will need replacing probably once a season depending on how much it's thrown, hopefully they are cheap)

Probably more I could add but this is getting long.
Enjoy the video!
Erik P.

Hey Erik I also got to fish this bait also today. It is an awesome lure that I know will stick some hogs!:-) I also recieved the origanal Generic trout hardbait. This bait also has a great action. BTW that was a great review and a awesome video. I fished my Live trout today for 6+ hours. The plastic tail kinda came apart from the hard plastic. I used clear PVC glue to glue it back on. Just held it together for a few minutes and it was as good as new.

C/R the trophies!

Yeah, if I could get the video to work right! I get error messages on both RealPlayer and Windows Media Player.

Bummer!

Eric,
Good job on that video.

About the tails... One thing I did with mine is take the tail off and drill a hole in the center of the back of the bait and inserted a dowel. Then I just glued the tail back on with the dowel sticking into the tail about 3/4". I haven't been able to throw it again to see if it holds better, but i'm guessing it should. I still need to talk to Jerry about this, so I wouldn't go out and possibly ruin your baits on my recommendation. I'll let you guys know if this works after I throw it some more.

Jeff, I had to download a new codec for Windows Media Player. Just get the latest update from Microsoft and it should work fine.

Yup, video is the wave on the web right now. It just takes a little practice to get the compression right without degrading the videos image quality. I should study more. I love doing video work.

That bait looks killer in the water!

The original file size was about 2.5MB but I wanted to save bandwidth and by changing it to WMV changed it to whatever it is now without losing considerable quality so I was happy... The shot was one of about 4 I took with my digital camera. Glad everyone seems to have liked it.

What few baits there are out there will be coming from Jerry himself like at the 2nd day of the Bass-a-Thon or on tacklewarehouse.com. How much will they be? I don't know. But expect maybe 75 to 100.
