I AM NEW TO SWIMBAITS AND HAVE JUST ACQUIRED A DAIWA HARTLAND ROD SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS PURPOSE, IT IS THE HL-S SS791XHRB MODEL. I WAS ORIGINALLY THINKING OF PAIRING IT UP WITH A SHIMANO CALCUTTA 400 BUT I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT THE ABU GARCIA C4 6500, AND THE SPECS. ON THIS REEL ARE BETTER THAN THE CALCUTTA, ANYBODY OUT THERE FAMILIAR WITH THESE REELS? IT SEEMS THAT FOR THE PRICE THEY ARE DEFINETELY WORTH IT.

I currently use the Abu 6500(C3?) reel for my swimbait tossing.I've had no major problems with it.Just keep it lubed and clean and it will put up with alot of abuse.I don't know the exact gear ratio on mine but it's a fairly high speed reel, works well for swimbaits.A great reel you won't be disapointed.
But...if you do have the money,I would go with the Calcutta,it's much smoother and all around better quality reel.
