I've got a loomis mbr 785c in GL3 that is a friggin broom stick. This is a true jig rod that will control a 1/2 jig. I like it for the smaller mission fish too. It's 6'6" though. For 7 ftrs the mbr844c in imx is good as well as the phenix 7 ft. pitchin stick ex-heavy. These are not exactly cheap but you can find them on Ebay for a reasonable price.
