I haven't been on Lanier, but know it's famous for the spotted bass. Drop shot a worm off a point and hold on. Bait will be the key. Fish small topwater, cranks, and even blades too. Lanier is loaded with spotted bass.

Spotties will school, so if you find some deep, stay on 'em. Spotties tend to hold on deep structure, ledges, rock, channels, etc chasing the bait. They will eat a jig for sure too!

Ever been on Shasta or Nacimiento or Oroville? I imagine it's very similar. You can't fish too deep for spotties.
