Use the squid with an egg sinker butted up to the hook eye. Cast, hit bottom, feather the spool so it lightly jumps the squid off the bottom. Or, per many magazine articles, use the squid on a white iron, drop to bottom, reel up a couple cranks, put in rod holder. Toss plastics with other rod. The smell will (might) wash off your tube?
