#299, "big bait equipment"

I know this topic has been covered before, but i've done my homework(in the archives) and narrowed down my choices. I'd like to get some opinions before I set out and spend a big chunk of change on this.

For the rod, I'm pretty much settled on the loomis bbr965. The 800xl was a definite contender but the 965 seemed lighter and thinner, which I like!

As for the reels, I like the left handed ones, but there don't seem to be many with the line capacity to throw the big baits.

I really like the daiwa cvz253 but I'm not sure if it's big enough.
There's also the new calcutta 401te. It looks awesome, but will also dent my wallet. anyone know of others???

If all else fails, I could also buy a right hander, flip'r upside down and fish it barni-style
