I'm using 65# power pro on my flippin stick and I only use a Palomar knot. I also use super glue, I believe it's cheap insurance. I have yet to have any problems doing it this way.
I'm pretty sure the manufacturer recommends using a Palomar knot for tying on hooks and a uni to uni knot for tying to your backing.
