#2280, "Coral Sea Big Fat Reds"

Coral Sea 3/4 Day Island Trip

Hello folks, we are on our way home from a very productive day of fishing at Santa Rosa Island. We had very steady fishing on big reds, nice coppers, and some nice sized lingcod. We got bit equally well on live anchovies & squid strips on double dropper loop rigs with 10-12 oz. sinkers.

Our 24 anglers caught 140 big reds, 70 coppers '(chuckleheads'), 30 misc. rockfish, and 8 lingcod. Those anglers who fished with monofilament line did significantly better than those with braid & short mono top-shots. If you prefer fishing braid line please consider using a fiberglass & not graphite fishing rod so that you have some give in your outfit, otherwise you will hook only the most aggressive of fish...

We anticipate some stormy conditions on Tuesday but hope to be back out fishing on Wednesday...hopefully! Please call Sea Landing at 805-963-3564 for status on both the Coral Sea and Stardust this week.
