#43, "April 4, 2000 Wide Open Baby!"

Went out fishin today on the Stardust on the 10 to 3 run. We started out on the one mile where there had been a good bass bite the day before. We picked away at a few calicos for an hour or so before the seal that was there shut us down. I caught one on the plastic there but most of the other fish were on bait. So we made the move down the line of Carpenteria. Jason dropped the hook and it was on!! The 'cudas started boiling off the stern so I grabbed the jig stick and nailed one second cast. From there it was WFO for the next 2 hours. Right at the beginning some white seabass moved through and about a dozen were hooked mostly on bait with three legals boated to 15 pounds. I had one boil on my jig but it didn't eat it. The calico were up with the cuda and they were eating the iron. I had 6 bass to 3 pounds on the tady 45 and captain Jason handed off some chunky calicos as well. The whooping and hollering didn't quit for 2 hours. I wound up with 17 cudas on the jig to go with the 6 bass. Final count for the boat was 75 cuda, 57 calico, 3 white sea bass, 18 rockfish, 4 sandbass, and a sheep head. What a day!!!!!!! Get out there and go fish.
