#3314, "what to be aware of on Ebay?"

On ebay I see a variety of swimbaits. I vaguely remember reading about some baits that had problems when they first came out. One I remember is a fin flying off on a BBZ, there's one or two more but I don't remember.
Can you give some insight as to what to be aware of.
Thanks!!

I saw Bill Siemantel at Eric's tackle when the first run came out and he was gluing the fins on those lures. I think they have remedied that at the factory but you can get glue for them if need be. I believe replacement fins are also available. I think the BBZ-1 is one of the most rugged baits out there. Take a good look at baits before you buy them and evaluate their strength versus the cost factor. Most baits dont last forever especially well used and bitten soft baits. I learned the hard way to hang all soft baits so that the tails stay straight or you will have to boil them to fix them. I would not store hard baits and soft baits together as the soft ones can emit an oil that affects some paints on hard lures. Most of this I have learned from others on this site. Store your baits carefully and organize things well and it will make a big difference. As for new lures I believe it is a bit of a gamble. Many times I have gotten excited to get a new swimbait only to be dissapointed with the action or quality of the components holding the lure together. Huddleston has a quality reputation to me and Rago does too except for the Real Trout, but he farmed that work out and I would think he is dissapointed with those results, The Castaic Rock Hards, I think the jury is still out on. I would only buy 1 bait and put it through its paces before I bought more. If I have offended any lure manufacturers I sincerely apologize but those are my true feelings in regards to those products. The lure manufacturing buisness is a very competitive one and hopefully most of these guys know you get out of it what you put in to it. Quality and customer service is what I look for. Give Mickeys 3:16 lures a try, I have never had a problem with those or Mattlures either. The cream always rises to the top and some do understand that quality is more important than quantity to the consumer. Hope that helps.
Peace Rich
