Ok well acualy it isnt a new rod, i got bored, so i took and old shimano skimitar 6'6" 2 peice spinning rod and started to cutsomise. I put a split grip in the rear, rewrapped all the guides and get this, looks and feels awsome, i put a split grip on the front(the for grip). Also i made that 2 peice rod a 1 peice. I was thinking of just selling it but now i want it : )

Nice custom stick dude. Amzaing how good you can make a $15 sportings goods rod with some work, huh? I've been building my custom rods for a couple years now. Right now I'm building myself a new rip rod on a Loomis CB845 blank, with split cork grips and the 1" "button" up front, with single foot Alconites to top it off. Should be sweeet...
If you can, try to get to the Fred Hall Show on March 7-11 down in Long Beach (I don't remember the dates for the San Diego show). You can usually find a bunch of nice little blanks for a good price, especially Phenix and other small brand manufacturer stuff. I'm going this year and buying a couple for myself to fill out my tournament selection. Plus, there's a couple rod building booths there that have their guides up on sale for less than usual. Once again man, nice remake!

Yeah, LB is a bit far from Del Mar... the Del Mar Show should be the same anyways:) I understand that problem man, live quite a drive from LA. Anyways.... what do plan on using that rod for? I'm in the process of looking for a new utility spin rod. I ended up breaking my old favorite BPS that was way old reamking it. Was using a lighter to soften up the finish some I could strip the guides off and go too friendly and inattentive with the flame;( Even if I could find a blank to replace it at Fred Halls, I be afraid of messing it up by goin' too quick. How do you like it?

Cool. Looks like I could use it. I like a spin rod for soft jerks and tubes, shallow or deep. I do a lot of skipping at my home lake and close up cover stuff, so a bit stiff isn't bad. Plus, needs some butt when sight fishing to get'em away from cover. Thanx for the info man.
