Got some goodies today for pics

Osprey Hard Body trout:
http://www.calfishing.com/reviews/trout_plugs/osprey_hard_body.html

This bait is suprisingly small. It's 7" long and the tail section is very thin. Could be a good one to check out for a tournament guy who wants something smaller with a high hookup ratio. Colors and paint look good. Comes stock with Owner stinger trebles and looks built to last

Castaic T29 Hardbait Trout

I was very anxious to see this bait and it looks very good. The paint job is sweet. The bait has a narrow body but a tall profile and what I like right off is that it's not super heavy. My guess is that it'll have a pretty good action at slow speed. There's enough play in the joint to let it kick. The hardware was a let down, average split rings and hooks that need replacing or sharpening. I liked the bill on the bait because it's crystal crystal clear. Won't stand out in the water. I don't know what kind of volume is going to be produced on these baits but judging by the big fancy box... it'll probably be an instant collectors item.

Optimum T's Refrex

Picked up the baby bass version of this guy. It was bigger than I remember it being which to me is a plus. I like the look of this particular color. The detail on this bait is really something. The hardware is very solid and it comes with Owner stingers. Anxious to go check out the action and see what it does underwater.

Castaic Ghost Rainbow Snap On Tail - 9"
http://www.calfishing.com/reviews/swimbaits/castaic_soft_trout.html

I've always been paranoid of the castaic softbait for the fact that it has a repuation of losing fish. This bait looks so good though I gotta at least try it. You can see right through the ghost rainbow if you haven't already seen the color. The hardware is crummy, and it needs a trailer hook in a bad way. That's a project for tomorrow.

Lot's of new stuff and lots of competition in the big bait market right now. Great news for the fisherman and bad news for the bass!
