I replied to another thread regarding state records and during the thread, made reference to a fish that Santa Ana River Lakes is calling their "Tiger" trout and will be promoting this fall. As funny/odd/silly/whatever-you-want-to-call-it that it sounds, I caught it and they admitted that none were to have been planted until this fall.
Anyway, I said that I were put up a link to a picture on Moment of Fame, and here it is. The shot was taken to catch the coloration and the angle makes the fish appear to oddly proportioned. Aside from being chunkier than reguler rainbows, everything is there and all is in proper proportion.

What a remarkably intelligent post. I posted this as an FYI/interest post, and the information (including the picture) is accurate.
BTW, ask anyone who knows me and they will tell you that I spend probably much more time than I should at Laguna Niguel. Rick, Keith, Jeff, Adam and Phil (at least when he was there) will vouch for this. My attraction to SARL is as a big-game hunt/nostalgia trip (I learned to fish there).
Alpers are definitely nice fish, and Mr. Alpers does a fine job within his niche. While I wish I could fish the Eastern Sierra more than twice a year, time and money prohibit it. And Green Valley Lake just doesn't appeal to me.
Your "elitist" attitude about fishing is the kind of attitude that turns newbies off to our sport. Put a kid or anyone else down for fishing there, let alone enjoying it, and they stand a chance to stop fishing period. We need to draw more to the sport we love called fishing, and places like SARL go miles to that end. Don't like it? Don't fish there. But don't ridicule those who do.

differnt strokes for differnt folks, sarl isnt even a real lake so how could you call those fish anything but super slugs.big game ,please if you werent using 2 pound line it wouldent be fun at all.and the croud at that place is scandaless, elbow to elbow.its not you against the fish, its you against a bunch of nig nogs.and i have caught those slugs and there weak,in apearance and in every aspect of the word. but hey you say potatoe i say pototoe, ive herd way to much on these fish and that place and its not even worth my thoughts, planters are nuttin but chum for the real fishes(talkin bout big game)!!!!

peace out bro,and tight lines to ya.

The crowd? NOW you're talking why I fish the place four or five times per year now instead of weekly. While I disagree with your analysis of the strength of the fish (let's let that one be), I could not agree with you more on the crowd front. What a bunch of yahoos! Drunken, obnoxious braggarts are all too common on the weekends, so don't even try to elbow your way down to the water on those days. Fish it on a Monday sometime.
Too many times when I left the lakes, I felt like I had been in a fight. That's why I like Laguna Niguel so much more now.
