#3088, "Calero AM Report"

Got up early this morning. Went outside to check the weather conditions. Looked good to me... I arrived at the lake at 5:15am Started off fishing the small dam with none other than a Super Spook. Two takers that decided on getting into a dog fight. 3.5,2.0. Worked down the bank towards the big dam - nothing more.Switch to a six inch Clearlake minnow smelt Basstrix swimbait. Fished it for three hours with no hits. Crossed the lake over to the rocky point. Tried a black & red Berkeley five inch craw and popped another two small bass on the point. Tried the SSpook again on the submerged island with no success. Oared into the left channel. Tossed a large white willow blade spinner to hook up with four small to decent size bass. biggest out of the four 3.9 pounds. Left to right out of the channel as I got to the opening of the right arm channel. On the point I tried again a SSpook again with no success. Oared back 50 yards and tried a off white weighted fluke. "BINGO" As I casted into the wind on the point,,tap, pull, set. A five pound largemouth gave me a ride. This happen to be my biggest fish of the day. A well fighting fish came into my hands. Fished around the point with no other takers. As the wind picked up I decided on oaring back across to eliminate as much wind as I could. Back on the other side I tossed a spinner for a while, with no takers. Closer back to the small dam I threw a blue & chrome Rattle Trap with only one hit on my departure.

Not bad, considering I'd rather fish Calero at night.

***NOTE*** As I was getting out a ranger pulled over to shed his authority. He told me I should be paying at the both due to I had oars...Of course I listened and said "show me the written law that says I should have to pay"!!!
He pulled out of his truck a book of California State Harbor Codes/Laws. (F%@!#k)~ Bare with me I'll write it for you. Section 651.1 "Bather" definition As listed in this chapter, unless the context clearly requires a different meaning. "Bather" or "Bathing" means a person floating, swiming, wading or bodysurfing. With or with out the use of a floatation device, including, but not limited to, floating upon or without the aid of a surfboard, paddelboard, surfmat, innertube, lifepreserver,or air mattress, except a floatation device which is designed to be propelled by sail, mechanical means, power, oars or paddle.Bunch of (%Sh911iT) was throwned at me and to say the lease
~Too many laws to fish.
I'd rather be losted in the Delta. :)
