One of the things the Sonoma club does at its monthly meetings is review the successful patterns from the previous month's tournie. Since we all can't get together after the Invitational, maybe some people can post what did or didn't work for them.

Saturday AM started out great for Scott & me. I caught my big fish right off the bat on a white buzzbait. She hit it three times (at least I think it was her) before I could finally get her to go. I then picked up three more fish on watermelon w/ red & black Senkos. Scott picked up 4 fish f/ the same spot - rocks with some weeds. He caught all of his fish on Senkos, although he likes the watermelon with red & green. The bite was still going strong until all the bass boaters arrived. But, they did catch fish, as did some of the other tubers in the area as the day went on.

I picked up my limit fish f/ under a dock about an hour later on a 4" silver w/ blue flake Senko (skipped it). In the afternoon, my culling fish also came f/ under a dock, this time on another watermelon w/ red & black Senko.

Sunday was brutal. I didn't catch my 1st keeper until 10:30 AM, & she just barely Will-E-Go'd. Caught on a 4" green pumpkin with black flake Senko, again skipped under a dock. The 2 1/2 lb fish came about 2 hours later on a red craw Fat Free Shad fished over a sunken dock.

The big surprise for me was the lack of a Rattletrap bite. Over the last 3 years, most of my quality Clear Lake fish have come f/ making multiple casts over or beside isolated weedpatches. Nothing this time. The only Rattletrap fish I caught were near docks, & none were over 8". I do know Daniel caught 4 Rattletrap fish on Sunday morning, but he's the only one I heard of doing that.

Thanks once again to all for a great tournament!

Only fish I caught was on a red/black spinnerbait with red willow leaf blades. Caught it next to a dock near at Lakeport. Got hit a second time on the same rig but missed it.

I fished almost the whole weekend on grass beds with only one 11" throwback on a Senko to show for it. I finally caught a 4.16 and missed a HUGE fish on gold and white blade under boat doacks late on Sunday. Can't really call it a pattern, but I would suggest staying out of the grass, and working tight to, and under boat docks. I did manage a bunch of dinks on the rattle trap, but no keepers.

I saw on the SCBBBC page that there is another Clear Lake tourney on the 10th of November. Is that going to happen? I was under the impression that the TOC was the only event left. Any info would be great.

It should happen on the 10th, although it won't count for points. We'll know for sure after the meeting on the 6th.

I launched out of the County park just south of Lakeport.
Saturday started off pretty good for me. I managed 2 fish before 6:30am. Both caught on a watermelon Brush hog flippin in the tules.
I fished docks, weeds, and tules and managed to catch several other dinks but no keepers the rest of the day.

Sunday I started the day with the Brush hog again with no takers. My first fish came on a white & chartruese spinner bait fishing docks. I
started fishing a 5" Senko, watermelon w/red & black flakes, and started getting bites in the tules and picked up 1 decent fish along with a bunch of dinks. I upsized to a 6" Senko(same color) and managed to land the 2 best fish of the weekend flippin deep in the tules.

It was pretty much all flippin tules for me. I had 1 fish slap a buzzbait, caught a couple of dinks on a spook and that was about it.

Thanks to the SCBBBC for a great tourney.

I started on Sat morning with a trip to Dollar Island. The place already had 2 boats on it. Then I promptly discoved my livewell's bilge pump was going out on me. I filled the well by hand and set up a couple bubblers just in case. As it turns out I didn't need it. I cranked and jigged for while then went to c-rigging a black 10" Power worm. Nada. Later I went over to Anderson Island and tried flippin' Senkos in the grass beds. Still nada. It looks good over there though. I'll have to go back another time.
On Sunday I went up to Lucerne and was molested by the dinks on my Lucky Craft Pointer 78 and a Rat-L-Trap. I kept trying in the area because it had so much life; bait, birds & baby bass. I figured there had to be some bigger fish around. The only legal fish I did get was off the 1st dock on a 2 tone/baby bass Senko.
It seems summer was still hanging on a bit.

Saturday I stayed at Library Park and rowed south....
First fish I got was around 8:30 on Saturday morning, a 4 pounder on a senko off some weeds, didn't get another fish until 11:30 on a chartruse/white spinner bait with two colorado blades (the extra thump seemed to help), this fish was about 4.3. At 12:15 I picked up a 2.5 on a 9" slammer....absolutely hammered it on the surface. That was it for Saturday

Sunday I drove about 2 miles up the road to fish docks, only managed one about 3 pounds on the chartruse/white spinner bait. Total of 4 bites in 2 days.

Caught my two 5-1/2'ers right off the tip of Rocky Point -- one on a 5" shad-patterned (white w/gray top) FishTrap *swimbait*, cast out from near the rocks, out to the main lake, retrived slowly back toward the shore, bouncing off the bottom rocks along the way.

The 2nd fish was caught on a wacky-rigged cinnamon w/purple flake 5" Senko. That one was kind of surprising, given the pressure that point had been receiving all morning! Don't know why that bigun decided to hit MY Senko, after MANY had passed through before mine! That wacky rig might've been the difference, as well as the fact I had timed it right (I guess), where a few minutes had passed right there at the pole, where no one had hit it directly for awhile.

Sunday SUCKED for me! Wish I had picked up on that BUZZBAIT bite, which seemed to be effective for some. The best I could do was a coupla dinks on a Senko, plus one swell-up behind my frog, in the moss.

We'll get 'em next time!
