3007, Cardiff 401 problem?

I have had a Cardiff 401 for a little over a year. Worked great until last trip. It still casts alright but sounds like the spool is not completely dissengaged. Loud clicking sound when spool spins.x( Just wondering if any one else has had this problem and what can I do to fix it? I would like to try to fix it myself.
