3627, Help,-How to convince my dad to buy a boat!???!?!?!?!

Hey guys, i dont know if you remember me from a while back.....i think my name was b23ball23, but the account didnt work when i tried to log in for the first time in around a year.

I'm the kid who was ummm annoying, From maryland, and posted that message on "Carrer options in fishing" i dont know if anyone remembers

well anyway, i'm back, because this is simply the best fishing forum ever.

One to the topic at hand:
I really have outgrown this whole pond fishing thing. i usually fish pods teh whole year. Although successful....even with swimbaits....i want to start fishing biiger bodies of water....without relying on my friends boaut, or our wimpy canoe.

I'm trying to convince my dad to buy a boat (just a john boat with some extras on it). I'm trying to figure out what type of boat to buy that will be able to fish teh potomac river, but also fish the local resivior(I CAN ONLY USE ELECTRIC ON THIS LAKE). I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what to look for, and how to convince the old man that we can both enjoy it.

Have your Dad take a look through the Bass Pro shps or Cabelas catalogs and site. They have some nice rigs for not to bad of price. And try your best to get him excited about the idea of having a boat. It worked for me once.

Well, i finally figured out what my old name was............x(

I dont really understand it, but my dad LOVES to fish, and we used to have a boat for the chesapeak bay. Nowadays he is very weary on making any sort of investment, even though we are 100% fine finacially.

I will try to talk to him.

******Has anyone used the basstracker 170 package in basspro??******

I think he will flinch at the price, but it is a fine looking boat!!!

One thing, as I stated in the above post, is I need to be able to lug it around with an electric motor too, because you arent allowed to run gas in the resivoir.

I would use the front trolling motor, along with a high powered one for the back

ANOTHER problem that presents itself is that we really dont have anything that we can toe it with, other than my mom's SUV, and she wont be too happpy about that. i do have a windstar minivan, it says it can tow a little over 1800# but i doubt its true.

i'm kinda thinking out loud, but dont really know what boat to look for.

Customizing a john boat is another option, but i dont know how much $$$ that will eat out of my pocket

THANKS for any help
