10761, Castaic closure?
Posted by AMP2564, Wed Aug-13-03 09:17 PM
Yesterday, I was told Castaic is closing this Friday 08/15/03.
Can anyone confirm this bit of information to be true or
false. Any info would be appreciated.

Well I called Castaic today and they advise the lake is still
open. The employees of the lake could only tell me that the
state would be taking over operations of the lake 8/31/03. As
far as the state closing it then is still undecided...

Thanks E-man. Gona take a road trip before they close.

Anyone fished Castaic lately? I have never been there so any
help would would be appreciated. I'll be fishing from shore
or kayak. Is the little lake worth fishing, or should I just
stick to the big lake?

Ay AMP.....If you are fishing from a Yak, try the lower
lagoon. I have a friend that catches really good fish there.
He uses the dropshot and senkos and occasionally live crawdads
(for when it's tough).
10814, It stays open til Sep 7

I just received word that Supervisor Antonovich is providing
funds for the County to continue recreational operations
through September 7, 2003. And the State is revaluating the
needs of Castaic Lake.

Don’t stop calling or writing it is making a difference.

I never fished this lake, but I do know from magazines and
fishing reports that this lake is a great fishery. Why would
people want to close this place?
10822, Thanks for your help :-)

Thank you All for the Closure info and the fishing tips. I'm
going up there this Wednesday. I'll be the one in the blue
yak.

Hey Amp,
I might be going to Castaic on Wed too if I can finish up what
I need to do before then. I'll keep an eye out for you. BTW,
I'll be in a hunter green yak.

Is there a fee to launch your Kayak in the lower lagoon?
10828, RE: Thanks for your help :-)
Posted by E-man, Tue Aug-19-03 11:20 AM
Yes, it's $6 for your vehicle and an additional $4 to launch
your kayak.
