Haven't been fishing the salt in a while but with little success bassing at Casitas, I tried Ventura Harbor last Sunday. Threw plastics on the bottom using Rob's "3-cranks, pause" retrieve and the steady grind but no bass, halibut or WSB. Got a few ticks on a white fluke; looked like something pulled the tail. Went to the 1/2 oz flecto-tape Kroc and caught 20 short barracuda (almost a fish per cast). Coulda had more but I left my un-hookers in my truck so it took more time to get my lure free. Must be a 'cuda nursery in this harbor. Small fish but fun to get some pole action. I'm about a week away from having installed a sonar on my kayak and plan to be back on Casitas soon.
