119, LA Harbor - Ronki bite WIDE OPEN!!!!
Posted by Jamon, Mon Nov-22-99 08:44 AM
Once again Jamon got out to fish the fine LA Harbor and see what intense action he could stir up. I brought out my trout rod and 6lb test once again and started flipping a silver 4" big hammer with a 1/6 oz head. Not too long into the day I was hammered on the drop and landed a nice 12" sandbass. I continued to fish for another 20 min, getting a few hits but nothing solid.
Thats when the bite went off! I felt something pick up my lure on the drop and slammed it into him. The line grew taunt and I began to crank him in. My rod flexing like only a ronki can do. Sure enough a few moments later I was blessed with the silvery beast splashing as I pulled him from the water. A fine specimen indeed.
Next cast was in the same general area. SUre enough, slam, another hit. I laid it into him and after another intense battle I landed another fine 8 inch Ronki.
I moved on to another spot to see if I could find the same bite elsewhere. Sure enough, no matter where I cast I got the familiar tap tap tap. After another 15 minutes I decided that the bite was too intense for me and decided to call it a day and leave a few Ronkis for other fisherman.
So if you are looking for whats hot, head to the LA Harbor for some intense nonstop Ronki action.
Jamon, signing out

Jamon,
Funny post! I was just curious were you still using the 4 inch swimbait for the ronkies? I've gotten into bites like that off of U.C.S.B. on small plastic grubs (intended for largemouth bass fishing) but my Ronkie "luck" ran out once I switched to 4 inch and larger swimbaits.
Pete
