The lagoon is a at full pool!!! They've been putting water in the lagoon and it's still filling.
Best place to fish is along the swim beach (which is closed right now) along the west shore. Drop shotting small plastics usually works well here.
The water is usually very clear, so prepare accordingly. If you're going on Friday (4/18) be aware that the lagoon is going to be closed for some sort of filming.

Thanks for the info! Although I didn't get it until I got back! Just went up for a couple hours before work. Didn't have any luck. It was pretty cold out this morning. The temp was 39 degrees when i got to the lake at 6:30am.
Still it was a beautiful morning. I will keep your info for the next time I head up there. Hopefully next week.

You might just be better off fishing the upper lake. I spoke with to a guy yesterday who fished it from shore earlier this week and he said he caught a few LMB to 5lbs. Don't know where he fished or what he was throwing. I would go with dropshotting, split shotting, or texas rigged worms myself. A reaction bait might get some attention as well. Good luck.

JerryG,
The guy has a kayak... and the lagoon is perfect for fishing from kayaks and float tubes.
A 17 pound bass was caught out of the lagoon a couple weeks ago on the east bank near the boat docks (cover of WON) - caught with a live crawdad. Lots of new shore line cover on the east side due to added water - but the hot ticket is the west bank. There's a channel that runs just off the shore of the swim areas. The water is really up. I've heard people say they've never seen it higher than it is right now. Give the fish time to adjust and for the weather to warm and look out!

Oh, one more thing. Could either of you recommend some color choices for the worm/dropshot fishing?? Hoping to get out there again this week depending on the weather and would like to make sure I have some proven colors in my tacklebox.

Hey SJ, thanks a million for the tip!! caught two largemouth dropshotting an oxblood worm off the swimbeach at Castaic Lagoon this morning. Great day out on the water. The fish were on the small side, but it sure beats getting skunked!!

Glad to hear you got a couple. And you don't owe me anything... I've learned so much from this site, I'm happy whenever I can give back a little.
I think the lagoon is going to get even better as the water gets a little warmer there. I haven't fished it very much to have any real knowledge... but it's just a hunch. Keep at 'em and thanks for the report.
