#2596, "question for CJ"

hey cj,
i checked did a search on pro-rigging ospreys. its cool stuff. you said that u replace the harness with poly tubes. where can i get poly tubes? how do u insert that mojo weight into the belly of the lure? i already have on pro-rigged osprey that i got at bww, but i want to pro-rig some of the other old-school ospreys i have...
thanks-vince

Oh, so now you're after all my secrets huh?...LOL. I had a feeling I'd get a lot of Pro-Rig questions after the Fred Hall Show. Some booth was selling them for $8 and we've already had several guys come down to get us to rig them. One point I need to make: If you buy an Osprey for a really cheap price, don't be surprised if it won't swim right. The baits that are available for like $8 are baits that weren't top notch. They are models that we(and other shops) returned or refused to stock. I can probably get 95% of them to swim, the other 5% are offered for $8 at Fred Hall Shows by other dealers.

Getting back to your question though, the poly tubing is from an industrial hardware store(I think they use it for refrigeration venting) and I core the belly of the bait with a Grub-Gutter tool to insert the Mojo weight. I've never been bashful about showing guys step-by-step how to rig their own baits, but I kinda have to do it in person for you to see all the little tricks. Stop by again when you have a chance, or e-mail me with anymore specific questions.
