I found this forum a few months ago and have been reading the posts daily. I 'know' BassinPatrick from over at the BDO site where he try's to educate us on swimbaits, trophy fishing, etc.
I've been seriously Bass fishing for the last 10 years or so but my PB is only 8 lbs and that was caught 30 years down on the edge of the Everglades. I've been trying bigger baits as I only want to catch the big ones--not interested in 'numbers' but in quality and only in artificials.
Over the last 10 years, I've caught many 5-7 lbers but the lunkers have eluded me. I fish only ponds and small(100 acres) lakes as I have a little Basshunter 'plastic' boat with a Minnkota on it.
A friend and I are going down to Bienville Plantation in north Florida for a day of guided Bass fishing. BP is a large area with many phosphate mine pits that have some bigguns in it.
Btw, how do I post a URL hyperlink? I can't find it on the posting page.

welcome man...you will learn alot from this crowd. you know what i never recomended to you...the mission fish bluegill. this is prolly a real good starter bait for a swimbait fisherman who is intimidated by the bigger baits. get one of those, and for gods sake get at least a 7" slammer before spring and you will experience some big bass....just keep at it, it will come... -patrick

Yea Patrick, I'm going to order one of the 3:16 Bluegills. There are Bluegills in the swamp pond I frequent.
Still can't 'sell' myslf on a Slammer though as I've thrown some large baits before with no luck. The loud disturbance of the water when a bait that large hits the water makes me think the larger, less agressive Bass will flee. I know you guys do it all the time. I've just got to convince myself that I should give it a try. Maybe at Bienville this February?
EDIT: I just ordered a Mission Bluegill and a 7" Baby Bass Slammer from tacklewarehouse. The Slammer is "on backorder".

Welcome. If you don't like loud splashes then don't order the mission fish bluegill. It makes a torrential splash that makes people think a huge fish is being caught everytime it hits the water. It weighs 2 ounces and is a hunk of plastic. Actually, when I was casting my 7" MS slammer it made WAY less of a splash than the bluegill.
