Hey everyone, It was good to get back on the water and see a bunch of old and new faces. Like it always does, everything ran smoothly and the tourney was a lot of fun. Got to say congrats to Taylor for that giant he caught crankin and Dan for puttin on a show punchin. I fished a lot of the same water as Dan and got a first hand look at him givin it to those fish with a punchin rod......except the one that won the battle and blew up his rod. Thanks again for a smooth event, look forward to gettin on the water with everyone at the upcoming events. Nate
My middle river report Being out of the game for several years, I just wanted to get on the water, catch a few fish, and catch up with the guys. I made up my mind that I would fish the east end of the island before the barrier until the water was flowing over the barrier. I had caught good fish in a certain spot of the island in previous years and my goal was to have 2 keepers in the box before crossing and hittin up the meat wall.
I started flippin a power drop shot along the deep edges of cover. I fished super slow and stayed in one spot for about in hour and a half. I strictly fished a drop off that was right on the deep side of thick cover in super shallow water. I picked up two fish close to two pounds right away ( they both were super fat to start but coughed up a bunch or whole craws and a ton of body parts in the livewell). After fishing the deep side, I began to flip the mat in the same spot. Lost a decent fish, and caught a 3+. I gave up on punchin since all I had were .5 oz weights and nothing to peg my weight with. I picked up one squeaker on the drop shot then headed to the barrier. Around 6pm I picked up another 3+ On the power drop shot on a deeper isolated grass clump. I felt ok about my limit but wanted to cull out the 1lber in the box. I crossed the barrier and first cast I get a 14 incher......culls my 13.5 incher.....great. Bout 5 flips later, catch another one around 3, great cull. Never caught a keeper after that, and didn't get a bite after 715. Ended up with 13.37, good enough for third and never made it up the meat wall.......thanks again B-N-T, for a great time and great event.

hey everyone,
first off, it was cool seeing all the tubers that showed up for this event especially the guys making a comeback and the newbies. also congrats to Taylor, Nate and Mike for finishing in the money.
i got to MR about 2pm and was greeted by some fellow tubers, always good to see you guys.I paid my fees then walked over to the levy to take a look at the river. The water was 2-3 vis with sparse elodea pointing upstream and hyacinth floating along with the current, i thought it might be a good day.
3pm mitch calls time and the game begins. i took a sec to watch the directions people were headed and was worried when i saw a couple of good sticks heading to the main river because i know that it could be won out there, but i stuck to my plan about heading up river towards the barrier. i was rowing with a group up the west side of the island when i saw some water that looked good. it was a huge flat covered with hyacinth sparse tule berms, elodea under it and a drop off. i saw the other guys go further up and decided im just going to take my time today and fish my way up. luckily i did and got 2 including a 3 within the first 1/2 hr. i rode the current up a ways and saw Nate in an area that i wanted to fish. i saw him stick a couple and started to go beast mode thinking he might have some good ones and i needed to catch up. i started punchn a little ways down from him when i got a bite. i had this fish spalshing at the surface of the mat, i put some pressure on it to pop it out of the grass and POW! there goes my cheap ass veratas rod, i got what i paid for. i shook it off knowing that it could have been a good one and continued up stream. i landed another keeper a half hour later on the opposite bank near the point of the Island. I continued fishing and cought 2 more 3's that gave me a limit by 530. meanwhile i saw that Nate had left the area i wanted to fish so i cruised on down and caught another one over 3 on the punch that i culled a 2 with. it was about 630 and that was my last fish. i decide to stroll down river and fish the main, i got one bite around 830 by the marina on a senco but shook off due to a poor hookset. i rowed back for weigh in. THX to Rob, MItch and Steve for running another smooth event. see you guys at CL
