Yeah, I really made the rounds:
My first target was Guadalupe, but there was *NO WAY* I was going to get my boat in there, with the water down so low -- hadn't ever seen it like that before (the SCVWD site says it's at around 35% full). - http://www.scvwd.dst.ca.us/wtrsuply/mwf/gageres.cfm
From there, I went up & over the hill to Almaden, but it, too, was down quite a bit (21%!!). There were some guys fishing on the shoreline, but it was quite a ways down to the shore to consider putting in with the k'boat.
Next, I decided to go ahead on to Calero, although I figured the wind would be too much, and it was. One look, & I knew I wasn't going to bother. On my way out, guess who was pulling up with his **Ranger** boat???!!! None other than Mr. Lake himself! We chatted for a second or two, but I didn't want to hold him up. I might've invited myself to join him, but he seemed intent on sharing his time on the water with his honey. I'm curious to find out how he did with his new-found **swimbait** obsession! ;-) (Johnny -- pray, tell??)
Anyways, after about an **hour** on the road WASTED, I ended back at the lake that is probably the closest patch of water to my house to begin with (!!) -- Almaden Lake Park (at the corner of Almaden Expressway & Coleman Ave). I knew I'd get my kickboat in over there ONE day, and Sunday turned out to be the day. At this point, I only had about 2-1/2 hours to fish. After then struggling with my little k'boat cart, which pretty much fell apart along the way to the waterline, I finally wet my lines at around 2:30, & fished to just beyond sunset with not so much as a BITE!!!
It was a heckuva journey, with nothing to show for it, but I was happy to have at LEAST gotten my butt back on the water! Now, if I can just figure out how to re-construct that cart...
