Worked the outside kelp for a few dinks with the fleet. Decided to work just off the beach at Strands hoping for the bigger units. A little guy in this pic fell for the bigger C4.

Those are some good sized Calico's off Creek! And those Salmon are very nice! There are some sandcrab beds now at Creek, but they are a ways out...not right on shore. Nice pics and report!
man that seems like an awesome way to get at some quick access fish. I'd imagine that you can just jump on your longboard with a wetsuit and start casting after a short paddle. can't beat that for convenience.
How much tackle do you bring and how do you hold it?
Bruin, I just grab a few of the darker plastics between 4-5" and leadheads to match and toss them in a ziplock bag. I only used three baits on Sunday and probably would have thrown one color the entire time if it didn't fall apart? I use a backpack to hold all my gear including my stick while paddeling. Clean everything real well and your gear will be in good shape for next time! The DFG will check you from time to time so make sure to stick your license in a ziplock bag just in case.
* water or your favorite adult beverage is also a good idea to toss in the backpack as well!
Kelly, glad to see you are keeping the local bass on their toes. Thanks for the salmon, very tasty marinated with the teriyaki sauce, cooked up a bunch of crappie from Cuyamaca at the same time, nice fish buffet. I'll be targeting the permit and tarpon this weekend, but lets get after the T-Sharks on the S.S. Silver Bullet when I get back! Forks will be hanging at the domes in another month, this 55 degree schiznet will be gone soon. Nothing better then roping forks right in front of the sand bass fleet, my favorite local fishing!
P.S.-- don't even try to jump on the bandwagon after the Halos beating of the M's!
Chris, Doing a test run with my mechanic on Saturday. I hope the 50 gallon bait tank that he is installing is ready to go? I might have to look for the croakers in our backyard on Sunday if the tank is running. Glad you enjoyed the salmon. It would be nice if those trout move down this way, the best fish I have eaten this year, bar none!!!!!
Those Angels break my heart every year, the curse is alive and well!!
