#1357, ""Workhorse" Rod"

Hey All,
I am looking for a rod that is capable of doing a wide variety of chores.
I want a rod that I can use to toss around Mattlures' baits, throw a frog, big jigs, do some calico fishing, toss the rago rat...
I was thinking 7' to 7'6", but I am flexible. I also generally like rods with faster actions than most people.
What do you guys think? A flipping stick? I have a nice flipping stick but it has a short handle, and I just don't feel like it is optimum for throwing swim-type-baits.
I have a few rods that may fit the bill--I have a 7' H GUSA factory wrapped number, but I think it is a little soft for what I am looking to do. I may be wrong.
I also don't want a super-exensive (read super-delicate) rod, this is something that will get used a lot.
Anyone have any opinions of the 2ig flipping rod on sale at TW? Calcutta 715XF? Crucial? Daiwa S or LT? Okuma H?
Sorry, lots of questions; I am just looking for some feedback. I realize that multiple rods are probably necessary for the baits/techniques I mentioned, but I thought someone might have simple answer.
As always, thanks for any input.
