An Ice Jig is a bait made by Rapala for vertical fishing through holes in the ice, but works great as an open water bass bait. It's fished like a spoon with a lifting and lowering of the rod tip. What makes it different is that it doesn't just fall straight down like a spoon. It will fall and then track sideways until your line gets straight. I know it's hard to explain, but think of it as a bait that will widen your horizontal coverage area while fishing vertically.
