This is an email I got today from Dan Toomey, Board member RFA SoCal chapter.

I just got off the phone with Bob Grady, who was a senior guy in Bush Sr.’s administration, and is working with A.S. to help him craft his environmental policy.

I have known and worked with Bob for over 10 years. Bob is a good friend and avid fishermen. Bob stated point blank that Arnold is not in favor of blindly creating no-take reserves. He views them as an absolute last resort and believes there should be strong science to support the creation of a no-take reserve. Bob also said that Arnold firmly believes recreational fishing should be well represented when these sorts of decisions are made.

Beyond stating Arnold's positions, Bob has committed to set up a meeting with A.S. & his environmental policy makers after the election to discuss recreational fishing rights and State policy after the election (if A.S. is elected of course). I know we are not formally endorsing a candidate, but I thought you would like to know that we have a good channel to Arnold if he gets elected.

Based on my discussion with Bob, I think we can expect Arnold to listen to our issues and give them real weight when tough decisions need to be made regarding the health of our oceans. One thing is for sure, he is not blindly aligned with the environmental groups and is not a fan of no-take reserves.

I am voting YES on recall and voting for AS.
