3 inch Big Hammers on 1/4 oz. 1/0 or 3/8 oz. 2/0 Hammerhead Super Shad heads (The 3/8 oz. Super Shad is designed to fit the 3 inch Hammer - unlike other 3/8 oz. "tri-shaped" heads).

4 inch Big Hammers on 1/2 oz. 3/0 or 3/4 oz. 3/0 Super Shad heads.

Find the depth the fish are at and start with a medium/slow retrieve. You may want to "spruce up" the action every now and then with short pauses in your retrieve.

Last year we were at Lake San Antonio (water-skiing trip with a little fishing) and could not get bit on the usual stuff. My 8 year old nephew nailed a small striper on a 3 inch Hammer and for the rest of the trip we had some very good smallie (and a few largemouth) fishing using the 3 inch Hammers doing exactly what I described above.

You can't catch tomorrow what you kill today - please practice catch and release.
