If you ever get the chance to fish Strawberry Res. in Utah, you should. The cut's and rainbows hit like Frieght trains. Spent last week visiting my 70-something year old dad and doing some great trout fishing. Most of the fishing was trolling in his cool little Alu. boat, we used Bighammers, Needle fish, Kastmasters, Woolybuggers, Rapela deep divers, and even tied on a Lucky Craft pointer. Most of my dads fish came on the needlefish and mine came on an assortment...mostly Rapelas and the LC pointer, and the over all winner the Needlefish. One intresting note, many trout guys are jigging small white tube baits and having very good success. On the last day, (being the avid kickboater I am) I had to stop and chat it up with a couple of guys heading into the lake at the ramp. Have to say this lake is VERY popular with the kickboaters and floattubers...not unheard of to see close to a hundred of these guys on the lake during peak season. Saw some great ideas on how to mount a trolling motor. Report they gave: Due to fast snow melt, lake is rising fast, best fishing in close to shore with Wollybuggers and Pather Martens. Everything was caught and released.
