#16515, "delta sturgeon help!"

i may be taking a trip to the sac. Delta thanksgiving break (yup still in school) and want to target sturgeon. I am planning CPR but may keep one just to see how they taste. i read that its possible to land them on 30 lb line from a boat that you can chase or float with them, but since ill be doing it from shore should i Opt. for 40lb+? or stick with my 20lb id been planning to use?

Rod & Reel-i was planning on using a Breakaway LDX 13' with a daiwa SHV-40 with 20lb main line and a 50-60lb shock leader with 130LB leader, or just straight 130 lb shock leader.

Wieght-what should i stock up with? im used to using 2-5 ounce for leo's off the beach and catfish in the 'duct and reservoirs. should i plan on using heavier or is current not that big of a factor?

Bait- Ihear Ghost shrimp, shad, and smelt are the way to go, any other candy baits? like will squid work? i prefere using squid when casting long distances 'cause i know it'll still be on the hook when it lands, unlike how shrimp and mackerel tend to "melt" while flying through the air.

also ihave a pontoon/kickboat, but am not sure if it is wise to use it, is there heavy boat traffic? and is the current too strong? also is November a good time to target sturgeon? what other fish should i fish for while there, waiting for the sturgeon to find my line?
any help and comments are appreciated!
